  • Tenun Sumba (24 x 36 in)

My work explores the underrepresented Sumbanese culture of Indonesia.

As a person who enjoys exploring undervalued regions, my visit to Sumba allowed me to observe and learn about the aspects of Sumbanese culture; Including the steadily handcrafted tenun that takes months for the indigenous women to craft. By using oil as my medium, I captured the beauty and unique patterns of the Tenun. Moreover, the gleeful mood that the woman expresses. The use of the subtly warm and cool tones and a variety of uneven brushstrokes; additionally creates depth, soul and embraces cultural appreciation.

  • BENGONG

‘bengong’ which is the umbrella term for a form of dazed daydreaming captures the intensified emotion of the girl. I decided to use red as the background as a medium to symbolize love, passion, and intensity as it describes the profound haziness of the visualized love scenarios teenage girls often come across especially during a daydream.

  • Bath Time

in exploring my first-ever approach to avant-garde, the painting ‘bath time’ was merely a spontaneous act from attempting to simultaneously create collisions between expressionism and surrealism. Complemented by the bold complimentary/primary color scheme and the play in space, my primary emphasis is the nonchalant emotion that is juxtaposed from the vibrant and gleeful child-like setting emphasized through the rubber ducks.

  • Andre's World

    Andre's World

Digital Medium using Procreate - A love letter to Indonesia, a reimagined reality with one of the people I love most. Inspired by Flore's divine archipelago and my stepfather's dream of one day building his retirement home above the hills, I chose digital media as my medium to accurately capture the picturesque, vibrant colors of Padar Island. It is a beautiful reminder to appreciate the scenery of life, not take our surroundings for granted, and bring essence in Flores daylight's quality. But above all, a symbol and the manifestation of Andre's future accomplishment, a home I look forward to visiting–– one day.
